It's hardly surprising that WhatsApp as a messenger has gathered such a sizable userbase given its widespread appeal and simplicity of use. One of the most popular chat messengers in the world, WhatsApp is used for daily discussions by billions of people. However, the inability to use the same account on different phones is a problem that many users (including myself) encounter with WhatsApp. Using WhatsApp on two phones is practically required today, since the majority of users experiment with several devices. Additionally, even while using WhatsApp on multiple devices has become simpler, it still doesn't fully enable using two phones at once. We therefore offer a solution for you if you wish to discover how to use the same WhatsApp number on two phones.
Use a Single WhatsApp Account on Two Devices
Sadly, there is no official solution to use the same WhatsApp account completely on two phones . We will have to rely on a straightforward but efficient workaround while the messaging provider continues to test the waters for multi-phone functionality.
If you don't already have a primary phone, you'll need to get one for this workaround, and after it's set up, you'll log in on the second device via the web client for WhatsApp. The functionality will be available on your second smartphone even though we are aware that this is not a native app. Additionally, doing this will let you smoothly utilise the same account for WhatsApp discussions on both phones.
We advise reading about the WhatsApp multi-device functionality below if you don't want to go through this relatively time-consuming process. Then, you'll be aware of when and how you may easily connect the same WhatsApp phone number on two different phones.
Conditions for Running WhatsApp on Two Phones
You must meet a few conditions before we can start in order for the procedure to be effective for you. Make care you mark the following things off:
1. Using WhatsApp Configure on Your Personal Device
You must install and configure WhatsApp on your primary smartphone in order for your secondary connection to function. You are fine to proceed if you already use WhatsApp on your primary phone. If not, make sure you install the app on your main phone before continuing.
2. A second Internet-connected device
You also need a backup phone with internet access to make sure the setup procedure goes well. But don't worry—you don't have to set up the WhatsApp app on it. Set it up and charge it, that's all.
3. Your favorite web browser
We're going to use a web browser as a workaround so we can use WhatsApp on two phones. Any web browser will function, however we personally suggest Google Chrome (Free) because in our testing it was quick and error-free. For this demonstration, we used Safari on iOS.
How to Connect Two Android Phones with the Same WhatsApp Number
Let's start setting up WhatsApp on two phones at once with the aforementioned criteria at hand. Prior to continuing, confirm that both devices are online. To configure the messenger, adhere to these steps:
1. On your primary phone, launch WhatsApp. To display a dropdown menu, tap the Ellipsis icon (three dots) in the upper right corner.
2. Choose "Linked Devices" from the drop-down menu. You already know about this function if you often use WhatsApp on other devices.
3. Next, switch to your second phone and navigate to "web.whatsapp.com" . A will see a website asking you to download the mobile app will greet you. Let's skip over it.
4. To access a dropdown menu in Chrome, hit the ellipsis icon (three dots) in the upper right corner .
5. A menu item titled "Desktop Site" will appear. When you click it, the desktop version of the WhatsApp Web app will launch and the page will reload.
9. Place the second phone's QR code underneath the scanner, and the "Logging in" box will appear almost immediately.
Make a shortcut to WhatsApp on your second Android device
Your second phone's current WhatsApp account should be simple to access at any time. For that, we'll explain how to quickly create a shortcut to WhatsApp Web to your Android main screen. This is how it goes:
1. On the other phone, touch the ellipsis symbol (three dots) in the top right corner of Chrome when WhatsApp Web is open and your chats are active.
2. Next, select "Add to Home Screen" from the menu.
3. Next, give the WhatsApp tab any name you choose or leave it alone. Then just press "Add" to finish. To fast return to this tab, click the Whatsapp symbol on the home screen right now.
How to Connect Two iPhones to the Same WhatsApp Number
Despite Apple's reputation for imposing a lot of restrictions, the workaround is fortunately available on iOS devices as well. The procedures below will be performed using the Safari browser. To make sure you stay on course, strictly follow them.
1. On your primary iPhone, launch WhatsApp Messenger. Select "Settings" from the bottom menu bar by tapping it.
2. After that, choose "Linked Devices." You will be familiar with how this function operates if you have experience using WhatsApp on other devices.
3. Open Safari on your other iPhone and navigate to "web.whatsapp.com" now. You'll come across a screen that encourages you to download the app, but as you already know, we need to visit the website's desktop version.
4. In order to proceed, click the AA icon in Safari's upper-left address bar. Choose "Request Desktop Website" from the drop-down box after that. The WhatsApp Web login UI will now load and appear on the page.
Note: It's possible that the page has reloaded to the official WhatsApp website. If so, simply type the WhatsApp Web URL once more, and the desktop client will launch.
5. The classic WhatsApp Web style will now appear, but with poor scaling. Put the QR code in the center of the display.
6. Return to your main iPhone now, and press the "Link a Device" button to open the QR code reader.
8. Go back to the AA menu - > Website Settings. Turn on the "Request Desktop Website" checkbox to ensure that WhatsApp always launches on your secondary iPhone's desktop version.
The end of that. You've mastered the art of using the same WhatsApp phone number on two different iPhone models. Now, you may access this account by going to the same tab or, if you'd like, by creating a shortcut using the instructions in the next section.
How to Make an iPhone WhatsApp Web Shortcut :
To easily establish a WhatsApp shortcut on your iPhone, simply follow the instructions below. This will allow you to access your account from the home screen of the second device. The setup and usage instructions for WhatsApp on the iPad employ the same methodology. So let's see how it operates:
1. Tap the "share icon" in the bottom navigation bar of WhatsApp Web when it is open on your other device. You'll see a pop-up menu appear.
2. After that, scroll up and select "Add to Home Screen." This will reveal a new menu.
Limitations of Using WhatsApp on Two Devices :
As you can see, this technique for using the same WhatsApp number on two phones does not work flawlessly. You will notice the scalability problem up front and center. The web app's complete web UI seems zoomed out since it is not designed to be used on a mobile device. To get beyond that, we often had to manually zoom in on chats in order to see and respond to messages clearly.
Since the website was not created for mobile devices, there is unfortunately no way to avoid this. During our testing, the page occasionally randomly refreshed, requiring us to log in again. But don't be alarmed; it's common. However, this is an excellent approach to effortlessly and trouble-free use the same WhatsApp account on two devices in its current configuration.
